Additional $15,000 Donation Allows the Laundry Truck LA to Continue Service at St. Francis Center

Grant will provide an additional four months of free laundry for those in need

May 2, 2022

SoCalGas is proud to announce its continued partnership with The Laundry Truck LA (TLTLA) and the St. Francis Center. An additional $15,000 grant will help continue free laundry services for families and individuals within the St. Francis Community and help fund two full days of service per week. The funds will help continue services until October.

This is our second $15,000 grant to TLTLA to cover costs of providing free mobile laundry services for individuals at the St. Francis Center. TLTLA provides unhoused families and individuals in the greater Los Angeles area with clean clothes through free laundry and folding services.

“We’ve been proud partners of The Laundry Truck LA over the last few years, creating impactful changes for many families throughout Los Angeles. Many people don’t recognize how important clean laundry can be for mental and physical wellbeing,” said Trisha Muse, director of community relations at SoCalGas. “This new grant will help TLTLA and the St. Francis Center provide more opportunities to those in need. SoCalGas is always searching to aid meaningful initiatives that drive awareness and meaningful actions for our communities.”

Thanks to our previous donation, TLTLA provided six hours of laundry services to guests at the St. Francis Center every Monday. The program served roughly 150 guests per week and washed over 2,000 lbs. of laundry. The additional grant in 2022 will be used towards new electrical installations to provide more laundry access for 40 families within the St. Francis Center community, offer one additional day of service beginning in May, and extend the service for four more months. SoCalGas has proudly supported TLTLA in its mission for the last three years, donating over $55,000 to help the organization provide free laundry services throughout Los Angeles.

TLTLA continues to assist unhoused individuals throughout Los Angeles, offering necessary services to help improve the day-to-day livelihood, self-confidence, hygiene, and future opportunities of this underserved population. The organization currently serves nine additional locations weekly.

“Our goal is to help provide clean clothes to those in need – we believe clean clothing is essential towards healthy hygiene and self-esteem, which can help improve future opportunities,” said Jodie Dolan, founder and owner of the DOLAN and TLTLA. “We are so thankful for SoCalGas’ help in making this a reality for guests of the St. Francis Center, and we hope to continue driving change, one load at a time!”

SoCalGas' partnership with TLTLA is part of the company's ASPIRE 2045 sustainability goals, which include a commitment to invest $50 million over the next 5 years to drive positive change in diverse and underserved communities. Last year, SoCalGas contributed $9.6 million in total community investment, with $4.8 million supporting health & human services, and $2.3 million supporting education causes.”
